We have been in Rapallo for a hot minute and have been so crazily and warmly embraced by Melanie's aunts /cousins / cousin's cousins that we have eaten enough vegan Italian food for an entire Animal Liberation army.
We have had an 8-year-old tour guide for an entire day, I have had pasta arrabbiatta for multiple breakfasts, and I have lived in full Italian immersion every day for a week. That is, except when we are with Melanie's cousin Rocco, who has a very creative mastery of the English language.
An average morning with Rocco.
We hear him yelling through the wall from his bed to ours:
"Mel! Mel! Mel! Mel!"
.....
"WHAT!?"
"Stupid American! You have a cartoon's face!"
A beautiful time altogether.
Now we have headed to Milano with our friend Cecilia for a grand old time. After which we return to Rapallo so we can get in more eggplant than you can shake a stick at and I can paint a mural at Rocco's bar.
