B'Oh

Yesterday we had one of the best adventures yet. We went exploring in Cinque Terre and Porto Venere all day - you can just take the commuter train there from Rapallo, 2 blocks from Rocco's bar where we pretty much live now.
You can see the rocks through the water at the bottom of the sea in some parts, that's how clear the water is. We went walking all along the footpaths on the edge of the sea and ended up taking a small ferry to Porto Venere when the paths were shut. Porto Venere is one of the most beautiful places I think I have ever been - there are a few 900 year old churches there that are just perched up on the edge of oblivion. So is Lord Byron's grotto but we couldn't find out very much about it at the time because the wind had worn away the sign carved into the doorway.
We made it back in time for a later train from Monterosso and got to have amazing ficoccia (Italian lesson for the day: "che strutto?" Does it have pig fat in it?) while we waited for the train.
What else? There are succulents all over this region that are bigger all around than a grown person. It's like the land of the lost over here.
Fantastic.
