I was super excited to visit the one in London.
The building was beautiful, built in the 1800's yet in an almost gothic style. It looked like an elaborate old cathedral, but all the carvings, stained glass, and decorative moldings were of animals and plants. It was awesome to be somewhere that felt like a temple to the natural world.
The exhibits were interesting but the NYC museum is still my favorite. Those gorgeous old taxidermy dioramas will always steal my heart.
We saw fossils and models of plants, dinosaurs, and other extinct species. We saw lots of colorful and shiny rocks and minerals. Humbling and beautiful, as a Natural History Museum should be.
The London counterpart did have one exhibit that almost made me change my mind about NY being home to the better museum-- a life sized robotic T-Rex! It was sooooo fun and actually realistic and a little scary!

Ketch and I made these drawings. There was an exhibit of antique illustrations of plants and animals that had a kiosk with paper and pencils so you could draw your own!
